Robert's Story

“As Town Councilman, I will continue to oppose the burden of ever-higher property taxes which threaten our families.” - Robert            
Robert's wife, Libbet, shares the parenting of
three daughters: Isabella, Natalie and Kate.

  • Born 1963 in the Bronx, NY. Raised in housing project.
  • Went to NYU.
  • In 1983, he met his future wife, Elisabeth.
  • Supported wife in medical school.
  • Dr. Elisabeth McKeon practices in Catskill, NY.
  • They have three daughters, Isabella, Natalie and Kate.
  • At their family farm, they breed cattle; board horses and raise goats and chickens.
  • Robert and his wife are currently in the process of preserving their farm without the use of taxpayer funds.
  • He volunteers time at the Elmendorf, Hardscrabble, Harvest Fest, Apple Blossom fest, Tivoli Day giving rides.
  • On a lighter side, Robert is an active member of "Society for the Apprehension and Detention of Horse Thieves".
  • With his daughter Natalie and Isabella, Robert rode through the town to commemorate the passing of Woody Klose.






Robert is frequently volunteering for community events. Robert can often be seen with his cows at Hardscrabble. Shown here is Robert at the Elmendorf area for Hardscrabble in 2005.

  • Known as a tireless worker for Red Hook, Robert is the Chair of the Town's Agriculture and Open Space Committee; he established the first conservation easement program in the Hudson Valley.
  • He has been named "Hudson Valley Hero" by Scenic Hudson.
  • Robert had his own small real estate business that he started in the early 1990's in NYC. As the President of  his Cooperative Board he spearheaded neighborhood safety and building-wide improvements.
  • Robert supported the adoption of the Length of Service Award programs for active volunteer firefighters in the Red Hook Fire Company and Tivoli Fire Department.
  • He works to promote buying local by connecting farmers and consumers in conjunction with the Glynwood Center’s Keep Farming program.

  • Robert is a frequent speaker on conservation and planning, and tax reform throughout the region. He spoke most recently to a group of supervisors in Putnam and Westchester Counties.
  • He meets frequently with Senators and Assembly men in Albany, where he is known, and has successfully obtained legislation: the local CPF, Hudson Valley-wide CPF and increased funding of the Environmental Protection Fund.
