Spring, 2007 - Scenic Hudson, Inc. names Robert McKeon, farmland preservation advocate, a Hudson Valley Hero for his work in the Hudson Valley protection working landscapes. In naming McKeon, the land preservation organization noted McKeon's spearheading of the town's bond act for farmland protection in 2003 and the Community Preservation Fund in 2007.

The organization's newsletter announcing the award goes to note that Hudson Valley farms are an economic engine, producting $150 million of agricultural goods each year. "When fields that yielded crops instead sprout subdivisions, communities feel strains on their schools, roads and other municipal subdivisions"

In receiving the award, McKeon replied "Knowing that people overwhelmingly recognize the importance of preserving our agriculture and other natural resources inspires me. We can lead the way for New York, investing in a future that we can both rely on and be proud of".
